About Alan Budd

I was running and teaching running and fitness walking clinics for several years. On July 1, 2006, I made a decision to ride the 2007 MS 150 Bike Tour with Team Pronto of St. Albert, Alberta. I was also motivated to ride by my running buddy Barry Ryziuk and my running coach Darcie Nastiuk. When I committed to ride, I didn’t even own a bike! I hadn’t ridden a bike in more than 20 years. So, my first step was to get myself a bike and then start training.

The 2007 MS 150 Bike Tour was my very first but not my last MS Bike Ride! The MS Society brochure say it’s a ride and not a race. I know I won’t be racing against other riders. But I will be racing against time. My good & dear friend Michele Crosby of Brooklyn, NY lives with MS. It is clear to me that there is a purpose for me to ride for MS other than simply having fun. I will be riding with Michele on my mind and in my heart. I will smile when I am straining up the hills. My strength and stamina will come from Michele. I know that I will be moved by the great number of people I meet along the way. All of us will be riding for a similar purpose. We’ll be riding to help find a cure so that others will not to go through what my friend Michele endures every single day. My struggle will only be for 1 day.  Michele’s struggle is everyday. Michele is my inspiration and she is the one motivating me to get out there and train and complete the ride.  My promise is to keep ‘er rolling towards a cure.  I am proud to be riding with the MS Great 8 for my dear friend Michele Crosby.
